Becoming a member and a Skywarn Spotter
Become a Member | We do not require that you be a member to check into one of the Blue Ridge Weather Watch nets or to report in during a severe weather activation. We encourage anyone with a valid Amateur Radio license to check in to our 2 meter or 440 nets. We do require our members to be NWS Skywarn Spotters and to have taken at least, the Basic Skywarn Class that was taught by the National Weather Service and to attend any NWS Skywarn taught class at least once every 3 years. We also request that our members check into at least 2 nets every week. If you want to join us and have not had Skywarn Training and are interested getting training, come join us and we can help with finding the next available Skywarn Class. To join the Blue Ridge Weather Watch, just download our application for membership form (click here), and bring it and a copy of your Skywarn certificate to the next Blue Ridge Weather Watch quarterly meeting. If you have problems downloading the application, please send an email to us at the email address listed at the bottom of this page. The Blue Ridge Weather Watch, currently meets the last Saturday of every quarter at the Maiden Rescue Squad, in Maiden North Carolina. Feel free to contact us at the email address below or on one of the daily nets for directions or with any questions you may have about the Blue Ridge Weather Watch or about becoming a Skywarn Spotter. |
