Over 700 reports on 3/2/2012

Over 700 reports of severe weather occurred during Friday's outbreak centered across the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys. A slight risk for severe storms persists today across parts of the Southeast. But after today, severe weather is not expected through at least early next week.

NWS confirms that a tornado touched down early this morning east of Charlotte, NC in Mecklenburg and Cabarrus counties. Rating, path length, and other information still being determined.Broadcast media reports 162 homes damaged, 29 of them with major damage and at least 5 completely destroyed, in Cabarrus County NC near the Mecklenburg County line due to a tornado early this morning.
