Over 700 reports of severe weather occurred during Friday's outbreak centered across the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys. A slight risk for severe storms persists today across parts of the Southeast. But after today, severe weather is not expected through at least early next week.

NWS confirms that a tornado touched down early this morning east of Charlotte, NC in Mecklenburg and Cabarrus counties.
