SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT FOR NC. COASTAL REGION

Special Weather Statement
Alert: …Another frigid night along with hazardous travel conditions
through the Monday morning commute…

Arctic high pressure remains centered over eastern North Carolina
tonight. The combination of a mostly clear sky, light winds and
the snow cover will allow for maximum cooling conditions. Although
not as cold as this morning, temperatures by sunrise Monday will
range between 5 to 15 degrees above zero.
In addition, any melting of the snow that took place today will
refreeze. Many secondary roads across central and eastern Virginia
as well as northeast North Carolina, will again be ice or snow
covered resulting in hazardous travel through the Monday morning
commute. Temperatures are not expected to rise above freezing
until around noon Monday. Motorists are urged to use caution
while driving, keeping plenty of distance between you and other
motorists.
