The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a

  • Severe Thunderstorm Warning for…
    Western Moore County in central North Carolina…
    Central Montgomery County in central North Carolina…

  • Until 500 PM EDT

  • At 421 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Biscoe, or
    near Troy, moving south at 5 mph.
    HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
    SOURCE…Radar indicated.
    IMPACT…Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage
    to roofs, siding, and trees.

  • Locations impacted include…
    Troy, Pinehurst, Biscoe, Mount Gilead, Robbins, Foxfire, Star,
    Candor, Norman and Seven Lakes.

    Instructions:
    For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Straight line winds can blow down trees, power lines, and damage mobile homes and other buildings. Seek shelter in a sturdy structure until the storm has passed. Stay away from windows as flying debris generated by damaging winds can be deadly. Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
