The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

  • Flood Warning for Urban Areas and Small Streams in…
    Central Mecklenburg County in the Piedmont of North Carolina…

  • Until 445 AM EST.

  • At 140 AM EST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain that will cause
    flooding. The stream gauge on McMullen Creek above Lincrest Place
    southeast of Charlotte reported a level of 6.7 feet and rising
    rapidly. It is expected to exceed minor flood stage of 7.5 feet
    early this morning.

  • Some locations that will experience flooding include…
    Southpark Mall and South Charlotte. At 7.5 feet, Addison Dr. and
    Lincrest Rd. may flood.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Only when it is safe to do so, please report floodwaters or
landslides flowing over roads or threatening property to the National
Weather Service by calling toll-free, 1, 800, 2 6 7, 8 1 0 1, by
posting on our Facebook page, or via Twitter using hashtag NWSGSP.
Your message should describe the event and the specific location
where it occurred, including roadways, nearby cross streets, stream
names and other landmarks.
