The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

  • Flood Warning for…
    Southeastern Mitchell County in western North Carolina…

  • Until 945 PM EDT.

  • At 546 PM EDT, Excessive runoff will continue across the North Toe
    Basin into this evening. Cane Creek and the North Toe River will
    likely remain out of their banks through mid-evening. Remain wary
    of lingering flooded locales, especially throughout greater Spruce
    Pine and southern Mitchell County.

  • Some locations that will continue to experience flooding include…
    Spruce Pine, Bakersville, Bandana, Green Mountain and Little
    Switzerland.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Runoff from heavy rain into creeks and streams will cause sudden
increases in water levels and flows, even in areas where rainfall has
been light or nonexistent. Hikers, campers and other individuals
outdoors must immediately seek high ground and avoid all streams.
